MIT54 Building & Infrastructure Upgrades

EJC was commissioned by the project Architect to provide specialized engineering assistance in support of the upgrade to the  22-story Cecil and Ida Green Building (Building 54), which is occupied by MIT’s Department of Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences (EAPS) and the MIT-Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) Joint Program. The project upgraded the building's envelope and systems to enable the ongoing and long-term research needs of these programs.

EJC provided design and construction phase services for the upgrade to the legacy radio telescopic antenna, feed system, re[placement of the communications antennas buildings antenna mast. Throughout the project EJC coordinated with the project team, equipment manufacturers, suppliers, and contractors for the roof top antenna renovations.


600 KW Medium Wave Broadcast Stations, Algeria

Project includes the development of two (2) 600 kW medium wave transmitter stations for Algerian Broadcasting under contract with Harris Broadcasting Group.  EJC provided architectural and engineering services for the facilities design and integration.

Afghanistan 2X 400 kW MW ProjectRadio TV Afghanistan (RTVA), Afghanistan

Reconstruction of the existing war damaged Radio Television Afghanistan (RTVA) facility in Pol-e Charkhi, Afghanistan including the demolition and removal of existing transmission equipment and the installation of the installation of two new 400 kW medium wave solid state transmitters

American Dream Meadowlands Retail and Entertainment Complex RF Consulting Services, New Jersey

EJC was selected to provide specialized consulting services to assist in evaluating and resolving the potential problems caused by the RF energy emitted from surrounding Radio Broadcast Antennas. The RF energy creates an electromagnetic field which may result in electromagnetic interference (EMI) within buildings.  (EJC formerly Hanson Telecom Group)


Tinian Power Generation Facility, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands

Project included an integrated power plant design that is fully automated with expansion capabilities. This diesel generator power plant utilizes four 2.5 mega-watt engine generators, switchgear and ancillary equipment. Provided Architectural and Engineering services for the facilities and integration.  


Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG) / International Broadcasting Bureau (IBB) Djibouti Medium-Wave (MW) AM Antenna System and Transmitter Project, Djibouti

The project included the planning, design and construction of the new medium wave transmitter facility in Djibouti.  The station includes a 600 kW solid state transmitter, three (3) tower directional array antenna system, transmitter building, site development, support utilities


Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG) / International Broadcasting Bureau (IBB) Sao Tome Transmitting Station, Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe, West Africa

Project included the development of a new Voice of America Radio Relay Station on the Island of Sao Tome, West Africa.  EJC provided Architectural and Engineering services for the facilities design and integration.

Tinian Transmitting Station, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands

Project included the development of a new Voice of America Radio Relay Station on the Island of Tinian in the Common Wealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.  Provided Architectural and Engineering services for the facilities design and integration.

Transmitter building consists of three transmitter bays, matrix switch room, electrical and mechanical equipment rooms and station control room. The facility is designed for future expansion for three additional transmitter bays.  Air conditioning system designed to support general building areas and critical electronic equipment areas and main control room.  Main building air conditioning systems consists of water chillers, air handling units with variable air volume fans for energy conservation and high efficiency filters to protect sensitive electronic equipment.

TSE and EJC has completed approximately 50 projects worldwide for the Broadcasting Board of Governors and the International Broadcasting Bureau. Our team offers services in support of IBB projects such as facilities engineering, project management, scheduling, reporting, budgeting, testing and commissioning. 

We work with major international companies and participate as a key team member in systems integration, installation and construction of broadcast stations for acceptance by the U.S. government. This includes numerous projects for the Voice of America, a multimedia international broadcasting service funded by the U.S. government that provides thousands of hours of news, educational and cultural programming for audiences worldwide.
